*Stocks were mixed in Asian trade; the Nikkei fell 0.4%, but the Hang Seng rose by about that amount, Shanghai gained 0.8% and Australia was up by a third of a percent. European indexes are also mixed and are generally little changed on the session; both the Footsie and Dax are fractionally higher at the moment. Spain is down more than one percent, but nobody in that country seems to mind this morning. US stock futures are lower by a third of a percent.
*The final reading of the UK’s Q1 GDP was unrevised at +0.3% on a quarter on quarter basis.
*There is a smattering of Fed speak on the calendar today. Richmond boss Lacker will make some comments at 8:00am CDT; Chairman Bernanke is set to make some opening remarks at a forum on small businesses at 9:00am CDT and Governor Duke will close that forum with some closing remarks at 4:15pm CDT.
*US Q2 earnings season kicks off today with the post market release of Alcoa’s results. Due out later in the week are earnings reports from Intel, GE and JP Morgan, among others.
*The Treasury plans to sell $35 billion 3 Year Notes today, the results will be announced just after noon CDT.
